Technical FAQ
Below are the technical questions we get asked on a regular basis and our answers to them. More detailed information is available on our brochures & our operator manuals which are supplied with each machine sold. However if you have a any other enquiries or comments that is not covered below please contact us
Does the unit need to be connected to hot water?
Yes, to ensure quicker recovery times between loads.
At what temperature should the incoming hot water be?
Hot water should be at around 55° - 60° C to ensure rapid recovery of the unit between loads.
What type of hot water system do I need?
Norris recommends mains pressure hot water systems. It needs to be a hot water system that is capable of supplying sufficient hot water at a constant temperature of 60°C at the appliance. This is to ensure minimal recovery time while complying with State Health Regulations, which require the rinse temperature to be 82°C before the machine will operate. The size is dependant on what other appliances are utilizing hot water at the same time. However a tank of a minimum 150 litres would be recommended. We suggest that you install the largest hot water tank that you have the space for and that it located close to the glass &/dishwasher.
Are all Norris machines fitted with detergent &/or Rinse Aid Equipment?
No, the underbench models are fitted with detergent and/or rinse aid control valves, however to pass through models are not . Most chemical suppliers are able to install their own dispensers to suit the applications & our machines do have provision for this. The installation & maintenance of the dispensers is the responsibility of the chemical suppliers & is not covered by the Norris warranty.
What type of detergent should I use?
We recommend that you contact your nearest chemical supplier as they would have local knowledge about your water quality & supply & will be able to advise the best detergent to suit. We do recommend a commercial grade non foaming detergent. The detergent should be used in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. Domestic dishwashing detergents are unsuitable for commercial units.
How do I adjust the flow rate of the detergent?
Use a flat head screw driver to turn the screw to either increase or decrease the flow of detergent to the pump, access to these adjustment points are located on the front of the machines. For diagram and instructions please click to download pdf files associated to the product.
What about rinse aid?
Rinse aid is used to speed up the drying of washed articles & to reduce streaking/spotting on items again it can be adjusted in the same manner as the detergent.
What regular maintenance can I do?
Drain the machine every night, rinse and check that the following are clear of blockages & debris
- Wash & rinse jets
- Scrap trays
- Pump inlet filters
- Occasional use of a commercial liquid de-scale, will assist with the removal of detergent & calcium build up in the wash chamber of your machine
